About the Program
The Morehead-Cain Global Fellows Program is a highly selective, fully funded one-year fellowship for exceptional student leaders from around the world to study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It combines rigorous academics, leadership development, and global engagement to empower the next generation of changemakers.
The program provides full funding for travel, tuition, fees, living expenses, and enrichment opportunities during your year at UNC–Chapel Hill.
The fellowship lasts one academic year, beginning in August 2025 and ending in July 2026.
Eligibility
Undergraduate students currently enrolled at international universities who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to global impact are eligible. Applicants must have completed two years of study at their home institution and have at least one year before graduation.
No, students from all academic disciplines are welcome to apply.
The Nomination Process
Yes, all applicants must be nominated by their institution or a recognized organization to be considered for the program.
Nominations can be made by faculty members, academic advisors, or leadership program coordinators at your university.
Your nominator must contact Morehead-Cain directly at [email protected] to request the nomination form. Once completed, the form will be submitted by the nominator to Morehead-Cain.
No, self-nominations are not accepted.
Application Process

Once we receive the nomination form, you will receive an official invitation via email to complete the Global Fellows application.
The application typically includes academic transcripts, a set of essays, letters of recommendation, and other materials to showcase your achievements and potential.

You will engage in rigorous academics at UNC–Chapel Hill, participate in leadership development workshops, and become part of a vibrant, globally connected community.
